FAQ

What Should I Bring

First and Foremost:
RADIATE ALOHA

Reef Safe Sun Protection: The Hawaiian Kingdom sun can be intense, follow your intuition and belief system to protect yourself from sunburn. Recommend bringing sunscreen with a high SPF rating, sunglasses with UV protection, and a wide-brimmed hat or cap to shield your face from direct sunlight.

Top Suggestions:
Raw Elements
Hawaii Peeps Kakui Nui Sun Mud
Locally made sunscreen

Waterproof Gear: waterproof cases or bags to protect their belongings, such as smartphones, cameras, and wallets, from splashes or potential water exposure during the kayaking excursion.

Appropriate Clothing: We suggest bringing a UV protectant shirt, lightweight, quick-drying clothing suitable for water activities, such as swimwear, rash guards, or moisture-wicking shirts and shorts. Definitely advise against wearing cotton clothing, as it tends to stay wet and can cause discomfort. Sunglasses, hat.

Footwear: None :) or water shoes or sandals with straps to protect feet from sharp rocks, coral, or other hazards while launching and landing the kayak.

Hydration: Stay hydrated, bring a reusable water bottle

Snacks: Lightweight snacks such as energy bars, nuts, or fruits to maintain energy levels during the kayaking trip.

Kayak Etiquette

What is the aloha etiquette when using the glassy kayaks?

1. Handle with care.
Our clear kayaks are specially designed for an unforgettable experience! To keep them in top condition, please lift and carry the kayak rather than dragging it along the ground or beach. This will help prevent scratches and keep the kayaks crystal clear for your enjoyment.

2. Stay on the right side of the river.
When paddling on the Wailua River or any other body of water with boat traffic, always stay on the right-hand side. Make sure you are no more than 20 feet from the river wall to ensure a safe distance from passing boats.

3. Respect others on the water.
Give fellow kayakers and boaters plenty of space, and avoid creating unnecessary wakes near others. A little courtesy goes a long way!

4. Be mindful of the environment.
Kayaking in Hawaii's beautiful waters is a privilege. Please respect local wildlife, avoid disturbing sensitive ecosystems, and take any trash or belongings with you to help keep the islands pristine.

5. Safety first.
Always wear a life jacket, follow our staff’s instructions, and check weather conditions before heading out.
